Cooling your lungs, cools your entire body

- Your body constantly ‘burns’ food. This generates unwanted heat that the body has to expel.
- You normally breathe in cool air to your (hot) body core, then breathe out warmed air. Try breathing onto your hand – your breath is hot.
- Note that dogs can’t sweat. They pant to cool down.
- If you’re in a room whose air temperature is higher than 33 degrees Celsius, your body cannot use that air to cool you because the air is as hot as your blood. Even a fan will not help – it just blows heat onto you.
